• Our team is looking to connect with folks who use email services provided by Plesk, or a premium service. If you'd like to be part of the discovery process and share your experiences, we invite you to complete this short screening survey. If your responses match the persona we are looking for, you'll receive a link to schedule a call at your convenience. We look forward to hearing from you!
  • The BIND DNS server has already been deprecated and removed from Plesk for Windows.
If a Plesk for Windows server is still using BIND, the upgrade to Plesk Obsidian 18.0.70 will be unavailable until the administrator switches the DNS server to Microsoft DNS. We strongly recommend transitioning to Microsoft DNS within the next 6 weeks, before the Plesk 18.0.70 release.
  • The Horde component is removed from Plesk Installer. We recommend switching to another webmail software supported in Plesk.

    Plesk 8.1 PHP upgrade

The best way for you to upgrade php would be to use ART's yum repository. All of ART's rpms (in his Atomic section) are created to "play nice" with Plesk, Scott was one of the original creators of Plesk. Check it out at http://www.atomicrocketturtle.com

    cgi-bin Script errors

You are using the correct directory. I too have had problems with getting scripts working in the cgi-bin directory. The only fix I have found is to enter "-w" after the shebang as such: #!/usr/bin/perl -w I still would like to know why this is necessary. I hope this helps.

    Plesk Firewall Module, Rules storage?

You should take a look at APF (Advanced Policy Firewall). This firewall is easy to install and is highly configurable. Then add BFD (Brute Force Detection). Every 8 minutes it scans your logs and if it detects a certain number of negative events it will add the offending IP address to the...

    Joomla 1.0.11 Installation

I host quite a few Joomla 1.0.11 sites on a Plesk box with CentOS4.3. You have to use your ftp client (or use SSH) and chmod the files listed as unwritable to writable. That means the directories much be set at 777 and the files (such as configuration.php) to 666.

Plesk servers below 8 can be easely hacked, for v8 and above other problems!

lvalics - great job, no kidding! The only thing that I can see missing (or I missed it) is in the port configuration of APF. If memory serves me, port 5224 must be open for Plesk to check the status of the key. Other than that - an excellent HOW TO!

    WebShopmanager now fails

I've often run across this when certain applications need magic_quotes on. Check your php.ini file to see if magic_quotes is off or on. Usually magic_quotes can be a bad thing to have turned on globally. If it is off, try adding a .htaccess file to the root directory of WebShopmanager with this...

Dealing with Vulnerable Code on Customer Sites

Have you tried yum to install them. I know ART has http-devel and I believe apxs. panaman gave you a good tip about APF (Advanced Policy Firewall) and BFD (Brute Force Detector), used together they are a definite improvement over the Plesk firewall. They are very simple to install and...
