• Our team is looking to connect with folks who use email services provided by Plesk, or a premium service. If you'd like to be part of the discovery process and share your experiences, we invite you to complete this short screening survey. If your responses match the persona we are looking for, you'll receive a link to schedule a call at your convenience. We look forward to hearing from you!
  • The BIND DNS server has already been deprecated and removed from Plesk for Windows.
If a Plesk for Windows server is still using BIND, the upgrade to Plesk Obsidian 18.0.70 will be unavailable until the administrator switches the DNS server to Microsoft DNS. We strongly recommend transitioning to Microsoft DNS within the next 6 weeks, before the Plesk 18.0.70 release.
  • The Horde component is removed from Plesk Installer. We recommend switching to another webmail software supported in Plesk.

Resolved Help with shutting down SSH

After working to secure our web server and getting all our traffic flowing through Cloudflare, I have turned my attention to SSH. I looked at the logs in Virtuozzo and see almost a continuous attack on SSH such as: Apr 13 13:43:01 03f98ae sshd[25853]: Failed password for root from...

Resolved Refined question on how to force all traffic through Cloudflare

Just wanted to raise a point of warning. If you are on a Network Solutions VPS, as I am, you may have issues with running both Plesk Firewall and Fail2Ban. The numiptent is set at 128 and they will not increase this value. So, you run out of that resource very quickly. We had to ditch the...

    Resolved Help understanding log entries

I found the issue. In Plesk if you set the SEO Safe 301 Redirect to "www" you get the a 301 on items that should actually be 404. I changed the setting to "none

    Resolved Help understanding log entries

I am seeing some strange log entries in Plesk. My understanding is that what the log shows is what was requested in the httpdocs directory. So, if I see GET /events.html, that means someone looked at the file events.html in the httpdocs directory. So, I also see the following: GET...

Question Why do firewall rule changes only work sometimes?

Back to my original issue with updating Plesk firewall rules. I am now getting a different message when I add another IP address. Again, it worked yesterday during the day, but I started getting this last night and today: Error: Could not activate firewall configuration: safeact: safeact: I...

Question Why do firewall rule changes only work sometimes?

Update: I increased the port range to the maximum allowed by Plesk of 1-65000 for both TCP and UDP. I also changed the settings to only allow our corporate IP address on SSH. But 199.33.126.82 is still finding a way to get onto our server. Anyone have an idea of what to do to kill off this...

Question Why do firewall rule changes only work sometimes?

I need some additional help. After setting up the firewall rule to deny incoming from 199.33.126.82 on TCP 1-10000, that IP address still gets through to the server. Can someone tell me what I did wrong so that I can stop this pest?

Question Why do firewall rule changes only work sometimes?

In my original setup, I only listed the source IP address and said to deny incoming. I did not include any information on ports. That was accepted just fine for the first couple of IP addresses. The problem started on the third entry. I just tried again, but added a range of tcp port numbers...

Question Why do firewall rule changes only work sometimes?

I have the Plesk firewall and Fail2Ban running. I also monitor our server logs to see if a particular IP address rings up a bunch of 404 error trying to get into our server. When I find such an entry (meaning Fail2Ban didn't trigger due to small variations in the log in attempt), I enter the...

OK, thanks. If it isn't possible, so be it. Thanks for helping.

Resolved Refined question on how to force all traffic through Cloudflare

Let me rephrase. Is there a way to force all traffic (domain name and IP address) through Cloudflare?

Resolved Refined question on how to force all traffic through Cloudflare

Yes, my IP address is in the list. I just didn't include it in the post so as to protect my security. I understand you point, but it was my impression that using a simple firewall rule would work fine or should in theory. If you are saying that I cannot accomplish my goal with firewall, then I...

Resolved Refined question on how to force all traffic through Cloudflare

I asked a previous question regarding turning on a firewall in Plesk, which I have since done; however, I get an error message when I try to apply the rule change to the firewall. So, I am hoping that someone here can give me some guidance on what I am doing wrong. Background: since we started...

Resolved Can Plesk block a specific incoming IP address?

Mail is on another box, so that isn't an issue. Problem is Plesk won't accept those changes. I keep getting the following message: Warning: The current configuration has not been activated. The system has been reverted to the previous configuration. This has occured because there were...

Resolved Can Plesk block a specific incoming IP address?

So, just to make sure I got this right. I was able to do the install of the firewall. Now, I want to ONLY allow incoming traffic to our web site from Cloudflare IP address. So, I modified the WWW Server setting to: Allow incoming from 103.21.244.0/22, 103.22.200.0/22, 103.31.4.0/22...

Resolved Can Plesk block a specific incoming IP address?

Thank you for that information, but the article on Plesk Firewall doesn't match what I have in my Plesk Tools & Settings. Under Security, all I have is: Security Policy SSL Certificates Restrict Creation of Subzones Additional Administrator Accounts Active Plesk Sessions Active FTP Sessions...

Resolved Can Plesk block a specific incoming IP address?

I run our domain through Cloudflare and have it setup with no DNS wildcards. So, only our domain.com and www.domain.com have A records. Today we have seen a few hundred attempts by a single IP address out of China to hit our server asking for a file that doesn't exist (wpad.dat). I have...

Resolved IP address only resolves for 1 domain, what about parked?

I found the answer here: How can I change the Plesk server's default IP address? Somehow the default site setting had been changed to unassigned. Changing it back to our primary domain name has it all working

Resolved IP address only resolves for 1 domain, what about parked?

I have no idea if this is something Plesk handles or if there is another issue as I am not an IT expert. My issue is that we have a primary domain, which resolves correctly to our web site hosted by Network Solutions VPS. We also have a number of other domains that are supposed to redirect to...

    Resolved RSA server certificate warning

i used the part of the KB talking about creating a new certificate. I chose self-signed and just named it the same as our domain. I made it the default and then selected it in the hosting security section. This seems to have worked as no error messages in the past 10+ hours.
