• Our team is looking to connect with folks who use email services provided by Plesk, or a premium service. If you'd like to be part of the discovery process and share your experiences, we invite you to complete this short screening survey. If your responses match the persona we are looking for, you'll receive a link to schedule a call at your convenience. We look forward to hearing from you!
  • The BIND DNS server has already been deprecated and removed from Plesk for Windows.
If a Plesk for Windows server is still using BIND, the upgrade to Plesk Obsidian 18.0.70 will be unavailable until the administrator switches the DNS server to Microsoft DNS. We strongly recommend transitioning to Microsoft DNS within the next 6 weeks, before the Plesk 18.0.70 release.
  • The Horde component is removed from Plesk Installer. We recommend switching to another webmail software supported in Plesk.

    Upgrade Steps

Hi Dawn, I upgraded MailEnable to the Pro edition and that is what I am using. That version also comes with a very nice webmail client, and so that is also what I am using. I am not using Horde because I was getting PCI Compliance errors with it.

    Domain Backups and FTP Failures

Is anybody else seeing a problem with Domain Backups and FTP? In Plesk 8.6, I had each of my clients domains backing up individually and FTPing those backups to an offsite server. This gave me 2 important things: 1) Offsite backups 2) The ability to give my customer's FTP access to their...

    PCI Security Vulnerabilities in PHP

Incidentally, I upgraded to 9.0 mistakenly because I assumed it would be using the latest PHP release, and I was getting hammered with non-PCI Compliant charges by my merchant account processor. Boy, what a costly mistake that was! I no longer have backups of my individual domains for my...

    Bye Plesk

Indeed - goodbye Plesk! Not quite there yet, but getting close... Cannot believe that I am without a viable backup solution on my server and that they hosed the backup solutionin 9.0 so badly!

    PCI Security Vulnerabilities in PHP

Hi Gang, You can "bypass" the PCI Compliance issue by modifying the php.ini file. The default installation for Plesk php exposes the php header information by adding it's signature to the web server header. That is how the PCI Compliance companies "see" what version you are using. You can...

    Upgrade Steps

Be careful!! I upgraded too quickly! If you or your customers currently use the individual domain backup functions and particularly if you use the FTP feature to send those backups to a remote FTP server - be *very* careful about upgrading. I *really* wish I had waited to upgrade. The...

    Any Successful upgrade Windows upgrade

I would be *very* interested in hearing how your backups go (either domain or full). I have had a lot of issues. What is most annoying is that my scheduled domain backups that get FTP'ed to a remote server for backup failed everytime. The transfer almost completes, then dies with a curl...

    Backup to FTP Never Completing

** Update... Running pleskbackup.exe against the domain and ftp'ing is also slow (~80Kbps) - whether the firewall is on or off. Immediately after running the failed pleskbackup, I command line FTP'ed the file to the server successfully at 500+Kbps. The backup, when successfully uploaded...

    Backup to FTP Never Completing

OK - some intersting issues... I am ftp'ing to a local server here in my office, so I can watch both sides of the FTP transfer. First, on the plesk server, I have Windows firewall running. I have holes in the firewall for FTP 20 & 21 and holes in the firewall from ports 5000-5200 and...

    Backup to FTP Never Completing

I have domains that zip from 7MB to +100MB. The smaller ones seem to be ok (less than 25MB), but anything larger than that, it transfers almost all of the files and then terminates earlier without sending the tail end of the file (like the last 100K).

    Backup to FTP Never Completing

I am trying to schedule backup jobs for individual domains. In Plesk 8.6, this was working fine. Now that I am upgraded to 9.0, none of my backups will complete. Even if I run the backup directly (not as a scheduled task), the file starts to upload to my remote FTP site, but never quite...

How to "get around" PCI Compliance The default installation for Plesk php exposes the php header information by adding it's signature to the web server header. That is how the PCI Compliance companies "see" what version you are using. You can turn this off with (so far) no ill effects by...

    SecurityMetrics.com Security Problem w/PHP

Hi Gang, I have a problem. I am running a dedicated server (Windows) with Plesk 8.3. I have a client with an e-commerce site that does their own credit card processing (using a gateway and merchant account). The card processor has forced them to dign-up for security Scans through...
