• Our team is looking to connect with folks who use email services provided by Plesk, or a premium service. If you'd like to be part of the discovery process and share your experiences, we invite you to complete this short screening survey. If your responses match the persona we are looking for, you'll receive a link to schedule a call at your convenience. We look forward to hearing from you!
  • The BIND DNS server has already been deprecated and removed from Plesk for Windows.
If a Plesk for Windows server is still using BIND, the upgrade to Plesk Obsidian 18.0.70 will be unavailable until the administrator switches the DNS server to Microsoft DNS. We strongly recommend transitioning to Microsoft DNS within the next 6 weeks, before the Plesk 18.0.70 release.
  • The Horde component is removed from Plesk Installer. We recommend switching to another webmail software supported in Plesk.

what do you think about Plesk 12?

Hi guys, I've been using cPanel in the past and I want to switch to Plesk now (I don't use it yet). The last couple of weeks I've been "hanging around" on the forum asking questions and reading questions from other people. Also I've been (and still am) reading the Plesk 12 documentation...

can Plesk do this? (is it "safe" to move from cPanel to Plesk?)

Open_base (open_dir?) directory is what I was thinking about. Domain redirects will not work, since every website will be part of the same service plan then, meaning I can't give them personal e-mail adresses and meaning I can't sell customized packages. About legal rights... that is of course...

can Plesk do this? (is it "safe" to move from cPanel to Plesk?)

Thanks for your reply :) I understand what you mean (although I don't understand the code :)) but I don't want to give customers server access. The idea is that I create the website and they can change and adjust it by using a cms I created. Every customer gets access to this cms which is...

    password tag? ...confused

Thanks Igor... makes me wonder why it's noted in the Plesk 12 documentation then. Is the documentation not up to date?

can Plesk do this? (is it "safe" to move from cPanel to Plesk?)

Good point... it truly is something I have to consider. I like to do it "my way" but as you say... is it the best and most efficient way... not sure about that to be honest. So maybe I shouldn't adjust the document root then... but I do want to use for example a "general" johanski library which...

    password tag? ...confused

... "Plesk converted the stored hash passwords" ... I don't understand. A hashed password can not be converted to plain text :-s "For security reasons, Plesk Panel no longer sends passwords in plain text." True, I read that... it says it no longer sends them in plain text... but who says it...

    password tag? ...confused

Igor, in your link it says "For security reasons, Plesk Panel no longer sends passwords in plain text." So... Plesk is storing passwords in plain text????!!! What is that about? You must be kidding me I hope...? Please tell me this isn't true??!

    password tag? ...confused

Well, anyone? Is Plesk storing passwords in plain text? If not, then how can it show a password? :-s

can Plesk do this? (is it "safe" to move from cPanel to Plesk?)

Thanks UFHH01, you are really helping me. Your advice is certainly something to think about which I will do the next couple of days. About your solution... so if I modify the default document root ("foo") in the config, and then I place a folder with the same name ("foo") in the skeleton, then...

can Plesk do this? (is it "safe" to move from cPanel to Plesk?)

Thanks for replying. If that is possible it would be great. However... documentation (click) says: What exactly does "other directories or files" mean? I thought it refers to the default directories (see documentation). So that's why I asked this question. It seems to me like I can only use...

    Outgoing mail control warning question

I was just telling you what the documentation says. So then eitherway the documentation is wrong, or it's a bug.

    Outgoing mail control warning question

I found this in the documentation: So it seems deleting the local host from the white list is not an option, so you can't set a limit on your local host, meaning that php scripts are always able to send e-mails.

    Outgoing mail control warning question

I don't use Plesk yet, but as I understand it's like this. If an IP-address is in the white list, it will be excluded from the mail limits. So if your mail limit is set to 100 it is still possible to send 1.000 mails from localhost since localhost is in your whitelist. If you delete localhost...

Hello, I am reading the plesk documentation about "Tags Used in Notification Messages". http://download1.parallels.com/Plesk/PP12/12.0/Doc/en-US/online/plesk-administrator-guide/59422.htm# It says that one can use a <password> tag which will show the user's password ("user's password...

I think it is possible, but just to be sure... Default document root is: var/www/vhosts/www.mysite.com/httpdocs/ Can I change it to: var/www/vhosts/www.mysite.com/web/ A simple "yes" or "no" will do...

can Plesk do this? (is it "safe" to move from cPanel to Plesk?)

I've got 2 questions about the skeleton: 1) By default a httpdocs folder is created. Can I delete this folder from the skeleton so there won't be a httpdocs folder anymore? 2) Is it possible to create new root folders by using the skeleton, for example "myfiles" and "docroot", so you will...
