• Our team is looking to connect with folks who use email services provided by Plesk, or a premium service. If you'd like to be part of the discovery process and share your experiences, we invite you to complete this short screening survey. If your responses match the persona we are looking for, you'll receive a link to schedule a call at your convenience. We look forward to hearing from you!
  • The BIND DNS server has already been deprecated and removed from Plesk for Windows.
If a Plesk for Windows server is still using BIND, the upgrade to Plesk Obsidian 18.0.70 will be unavailable until the administrator switches the DNS server to Microsoft DNS. We strongly recommend transitioning to Microsoft DNS within the next 6 weeks, before the Plesk 18.0.70 release.
  • The Horde component is removed from Plesk Installer. We recommend switching to another webmail software supported in Plesk.

can Plesk do this? (is it "safe" to move from cPanel to Plesk?)

Thanks again Sergey! What does the chown do and where do I set to use mod_php? Another question. I saw that when a domain is created, some default folders will automatically be placed in the document root. Is it possible to prevent these folders from being created, and is it possible to...

can Plesk do this? (is it "safe" to move from cPanel to Plesk?)

Thank you for trying so hard Sergey. I appreciate it! One thing though... I don't use (and will not use) Wordpress. Does this mean it won't work? I was thinking... each time I create a new domain, a new vhost will be created. Correct? Can't I just make a custom vhost (based on the default...

can Plesk do this? (is it "safe" to move from cPanel to Plesk?)

Allright... my final attempt. Who knows an answer to this problem? I want Plesk to work in a normal way, just as it does. The only thing I would like to change is that every new domain has the same (predefined) document root (web folder). I will be gone for a few days. I hope when I come back...

can Plesk do this? (is it "safe" to move from cPanel to Plesk?)

All help is still very welcome. All I want is that all vhosts have the same document root (or web folder). Can it be done and if so, how?

can Plesk do this? (is it "safe" to move from cPanel to Plesk?)

    >> Second part - you can give users permission (per subscription) to only access the Plesk Panel and to manage their mail accounts (which is not possible with cPanel as far as I know). That sounds great! >> but in Plesk logic/code which is not readable, so you will have to ask them this...

can Plesk do this? (is it "safe" to move from cPanel to Plesk?)

Thanks... but isn't there something like a template for the default vhost which I can change? For example, isn't there a template that says something like: DocumentRoot var/www/<domain-name>/httpdocs Which I can simply change into: DocumentRoot var/www/default/httpdocs Wouldn't that be...

can Plesk do this? (is it "safe" to move from cPanel to Plesk?)

Thanks for replying MislavO! Your explanation is very clear. There are some problems though. As Sergey mentioned... all users under the same subscription get the same "package" and that is not what I want. For example I want domain1.com to have unlimited traffic and domain2.com 10GB traffic...

can Plesk do this? (is it "safe" to move from cPanel to Plesk?)

I hope anyone can tell me if what I want is possible. I want to end my cPanel subscription, otherwise I'll have to pay for another month... So please can anyone tell me if what I want is possible?

can Plesk do this? (is it "safe" to move from cPanel to Plesk?)

    >> I suppose you should use two subscriptions for each customer. Why 2 subscriptions? >> But there are problem with shared webroot. Ideal situation. Each customer gets own subscription, with own e-mail, users and settings. Only problem... all document roots (web roots) must point to the...

can Plesk do this? (is it "safe" to move from cPanel to Plesk?)

Thank you. That sounds good. I've got some other questions. I numbered them, so it's easier to reply. 1) >> /var/www/vhosts/blabla.com/ <--- share webspace for main domain and addon domains Why is blabla.com the "main" webspace? Is it the first domain that was created under a certain...

can Plesk do this? (is it "safe" to move from cPanel to Plesk?)

Thanks again. I see that in your example blabla.com and demo.com have "httpdocs/" as their document root. However, I read somewhere that the default document root of each domain is: /var/www/vhosts/<domain-name>/httpdocs So, in your example what would be the document root for demo.com and...

can Plesk do this? (is it "safe" to move from cPanel to Plesk?)

Thank you for taking the time to answer my questions. So what I want is that all domains have the same document root. So there will be just 1 document root folder on the entire server. Is it possible? Do I need to create 1 user and add all domains while being logged in as this user? Or can I...

can Plesk do this? (is it "safe" to move from cPanel to Plesk?)

@SergeyUgdyzhekov: Where can I find addon domain in Plesk? I know cPanel has addon domains, but Plesk as well? Are you 100% sure? (Are you sure you're not confused with domain alias?)

can Plesk do this? (is it "safe" to move from cPanel to Plesk?)

Seriously, is there no one on this forum who is kind enough to try this simple test? It'll only take 5 minutes and it would help me very much to make my decision. Anyone please?

can Plesk do this? (is it "safe" to move from cPanel to Plesk?)

I already told that. I would have to use domain aliases then, correct? And then the e-mail won't work (as I described above). Please, is someone kind enough to test if this works? http://gentoo-blog.de/confixx-plesk/change-document-root-plesk/ I would test it myself if I could, but I don't...
