  • Support for BIND DNS has been removed from Plesk for Windows due to security and maintenance risks.
If a Plesk for Windows server is still using BIND, the upgrade to Plesk Obsidian 18.0.70 will be unavailable until the administrator switches the DNS server to Microsoft DNS.

Plesk cannot synch subscription to Default Domain plan out of the box

Ok. The answer is Updates and Upgrades and install the missing components. Then it synchs. Still; it seems to me a configuration error to ship the product with a pre-built 'Default Domain' plan which cannot in fact be used without taking this step... I've just blamed the hosting company and now...

This is Plesk 11.5.3 on CentOs 6.4 I've had the same experience with 2 Hosting companies. Steps to reproduce: 1. Brand new Plesk. 2. Create a new Customer and Subscription at the same time 3. Choose the Default Domain plan. You get this message: Syncing the subscription with its service...

    What are these fail2Ban jails?

I am configuring fail2Ban (brilliant idea to include it in the Panel). I am wondering what the implication is of activating it for these services: plesk-apache plesk-apache-badbot plesk-horde recidive I am not sure what these services are. Also surely if we apply it to plesk-apache that would...

    Force https:// access

Hi I want to configure a domain to force https rather than http access on a certain directory. I think I can probably do this with mod_rewite but I am just wondering if there is anything built into Plesk to do this thanks --Justin Wyllie

Changed Panel SSL Certificate but Web mail still uses the old one

Following advice re. Heartbleed I created a new SSL certificate and made that the default for the Panel in the SSL Certificates section. That works fine. But my webmail URLs are still using the old certificate. E.g. https://webmail.mydomain.com How do I update to the new certificate for...

How to stop Plesk creating FTP accounts and remove existing FTP accounts

In the end it seems to me that if you set up SSH keys for a user you also need to disable FTP for that user (e.g. in /etc/ftpusers) and they can use SFTP with their new keys!

How to backup to a mounted drive?

Hi My hosting company is offering to sell me backup space which will be mounted as a network location. e.g. /usr/local/backup My question is how would I use this since Plesk seems to be configured either to use an FTP location or to use the server repository. Would I have to change the...

Do I need to re-generate my self-signed SSL Certificate after upgrading OpenSSL?

I take your point. On the other hand it didn't take long to do and brings peace of mind.

Do I need to re-generate my self-signed SSL Certificate after upgrading OpenSSL?

Thanks Lloyd I tried to do it manually and copied the files to /etc/httpd/conf. It didn't work. So I abandoned the operation and used the Control Panel. Having done all that I discovered that Plesk keeps the keys in /usr/local/psa/var/certificates Anyhow I decided to stick with the Plesk...

Do I need to re-generate my self-signed SSL Certificate after upgrading OpenSSL?

Hi I have installed the 7 April release of OpenSSL (OpenSSL 1.0.1g 7 Apr 2014) as my machine had a vulnerable version installed. My Plesk Admin panel is protected with the 'default certificate'. This is the self-generated certificate that provides SSL encryption but is not signed by a...

    Upgrade Openssl

My ISP gave me this link which runs through the steps to build OpenSSL from source on CentoOS: http://cloudishvps.com/linux/openssl-heartbleed-bug-a-quick-explanation-on-the-recent-security-issue-and-the-fix/ It is about half-way down the page "Installing OpenSSL 1.0.1g on CentOS" I just did...

I have created a number of Customers, each with one web site. I don't want/need to give any of my Customers Control Panel access. Is it possible to configure the accounts so they don't have Control Panel access? I know it possible when creating additional email accounts not to give them...

How to stop Plesk creating FTP accounts and remove existing FTP accounts

Thanks Faris. Point taken that the ftp users won't have shell access. I also like you tested the FTP and found that I could not get any further up the directory tree than /var/www/vhosts/domain.tld However; my authorised_keys file is under this in .ssh/authorised_keys. The home folder for...

How to stop Plesk creating FTP accounts and remove existing FTP accounts

Hi Thanks. I have taken some of these steps. And investigating whether my phone company will give me a static IP. I take your point that attacks can be sophisticated and automated. As far as packages go I will keep WordPress up to date. I had a client with Joomla 1.5 on my old server. I...
