I would look at some sort of throttling solution with advanced filter - not blocking or adding IP to some database and keeping it flagged.

I don't believe Plesk would release half-baked CentOS support where people need to deal with missing packages - to begin with. Also I don't think we'll have to wait for CentOS 8 support until CentOS is at version 8.2 either. I may be wrong though.

AFAIK this is OS level task, not Plesk task. Someone please correct me if i am wrong or something changed in the meantime. Note that You need to take special care when updating MariaDB and double check does your Plesk version support MariaDB version you are updating to.
