i do not know centos, but on debian there are 2 different php.ini files one for apache and one for cli, cgi/fast-cgi uses the cli one ... and plesk does not modify the cli one ...

you can use http://www.dotdeb.org/ for actual php/mysql we use them for a long time now, without problems ...

are you uploading with php ? take a look in your php.ini ...

apt-get or aptitude are the same as the plesk updater does (as i know) we always do it the debian way and never had a problem so fare (beside the normal update bugs from parallels) just be sure you have a correct sources.list

how do you try to edit the conf files ? are you logged in as root over ssh ?

you search the zone files ? zone files are under /var/named/run-root/var

try: /opt/psa/admin/bin/websrvmng -a (path maybe different depending on your server os)

you need to have the plesk repository in /etc/apt/sources.list then you can do: apt-get remove psa-backup-manager apt-get install psa-backup-manager

the same for horde / atmail / pgAdmin

can you try apt-get remove psa-backup-manager apt-get install psa-backup-manager

is mysql update the only thing you have done ? how have you updated, with dotdeb or an other way ?
