  • The BIND DNS server has already been deprecated and removed from Plesk for Windows.
If a Plesk for Windows server is still using BIND, the upgrade to Plesk Obsidian 18.0.70 will be unavailable until the administrator switches the DNS server to Microsoft DNS. We strongly recommend transitioning to Microsoft DNS within the next 6 weeks, before the Plesk 18.0.70 release.
  • The Horde component is removed from Plesk Installer. We recommend switching to another webmail software supported in Plesk.

Adjusting pop/smtp usernames

ep1p

New Pleskian
Hi,
I'm migrating users from an old custom platform to Plesk. We have some users setup for outbound smtp e-mail with some random usernames such as 'user@blah' or just 'user' (ie not FQDN). How can I add these users to plesk so they can continue to send e-mail without changing their usernames?

I don't want to change the usernames as that would require contacting each customer. If I can add the existing ones I can then just adjust the DNS for the hostname they use to point to Plesk and it will continue to work seemlessly.

Thanks,

john

Plesk accepts both:

username

and username@domain.com

if the option to accept short mailnames is enabled in Global mail preferences. You must only create mailboxes with the name of the username. It is not technically possible to have a username different than the mailbox name.
