Question Allow mail managers to manage quarantined messages in Plesk Email Security

Ahmed

Basic Pleskian
Server operating system version
Ubuntu 24.04
Plesk version and microupdate number
Plesk Obsidian 18.0.74 Update #3
We recently started using the paid version of Plesk Email Security, and we were expecting users with the Mail Manager role to be able to manage quarantined messages. This doesn't seem the case, and also there's no specific permission for this that we can give to that role.

Isn't this possible? Doesn't it make sense for such a role to be able to manage quarantined messages?

Hi, @Ahmed . I will need to double-check that with our team, but I do have a few questions for you so I can better understand the situation:

  • Are you using the email user or an independent user? What's the user role assigned to the user?
  • It will be really helpful if you can provide me with step-by-step instructions on how to replicate the issue. E.g.:
    • 1. Go to Users > Create a new user, assign it with X role/permissions
    • Log in with the newly created user and navigate to X > X
Thank you in advance for your cooperation.

Hi @Sebahat.hadzhi.
  • I'm using a Plesk user with the "Mail Manager" role as stated in my initial message.
  • The steps are:
    • Create a new user and assign the "Mail Manager" role to it.
    • Install the Plesk Email Security extension, paid version, and enable the Antivirus feature.
    • Try to manage the quarantined email messages with the previously created user. I'm expecting a "Mail Manager" user to be able to do that.

There's no default "Mail Manager" role. You are likely using a custom role and I was unaware of the exact specifications of the same - hence, my question for further details.

Nevertheless, I attempted to reproduce the issue you described by creating a new user and assigning to it a role with "Configure spam filter" and "Create and manage mail accounts" permissions granted and I am unable to access the "Quarantine" section. I suspect that might be by design, but I am currently discussing the case with our team for further clarity and potential workaround. I will follow-up with more details as soon as possible. Thank you for your patience in advance.
