  • The BIND DNS server has already been deprecated and removed from Plesk for Windows.
If a Plesk for Windows server is still using BIND, the upgrade to Plesk Obsidian 18.0.70 will be unavailable until the administrator switches the DNS server to Microsoft DNS. We strongly recommend transitioning to Microsoft DNS within the next 6 weeks, before the Plesk 18.0.70 release.
  • The Horde component is removed from Plesk Installer. We recommend switching to another webmail software supported in Plesk.

Question Best backup system local before upgrade

VirtualCed

New Pleskian
Hello,

I have a Plesk Onyx 17.07 running on a server with 3 SSD.
Right now, disk1 is the server os and data
disk 2 is only used for local backups
disk 3 is not used.

I plan to migrate to 17.5.3 version as proposed by the system.

I'd like to have the most reliable backup.

So I thought it could be a good idea to clone SSD1 to SSD3.
In case of trouble I should be able to restore it from SSD3 to SSD1.

I'd like to have your opinion :

Is is safe enough ?
which tool should I use ?
At this time I'm thinking to

  • dd
  • rsync
  • partclone
Any advice ?

Thanks

It should be noted that the upgrade procedure is very easy. There should not be any problems.
But if you want to make a dump of the server, just in case, I would advise it to be done quickly using dd.
