• Our team is looking to connect with folks who use email services provided by Plesk, or a premium service. If you'd like to be part of the discovery process and share your experiences, we invite you to complete this short screening survey. If your responses match the persona we are looking for, you'll receive a link to schedule a call at your convenience. We look forward to hearing from you!
  • The BIND DNS server has already been deprecated and removed from Plesk for Windows.
If a Plesk for Windows server is still using BIND, the upgrade to Plesk Obsidian 18.0.70 will be unavailable until the administrator switches the DNS server to Microsoft DNS. We strongly recommend transitioning to Microsoft DNS within the next 6 weeks, before the Plesk 18.0.70 release.
  • The Horde component is removed from Plesk Installer. We recommend switching to another webmail software supported in Plesk.

[BUG] Big problem with document roots deleted by Plesk

Thomas Becker

Basic Pleskian
---------------------------------------------------------------
PRODUCT, VERSION, MICROUPDATE, OPERATING SYSTEM, ARCHITECTURE
Plesk 10.4.4 Update #57 CentOS 6 x64

PROBLEM DESCRIPTION
Document root is going to be deleted by Plesk if hosting of a domain is changed to "redirect". Same result when deleting domains. Many of our customers are deleting whole directories without wanting them to be deleted.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
Change the hosting of a domain to "redirect" or delete it.

ACTUAL RESULT
Document root will be deleted by Plesk without asking for it.

EXPECTED RESULT
There should definitely be a popup box or something like that in which the customer is asked for deleting the directory where the domain is pointing to.
If other domains pointing to the same directory or a subdirectory no directory should be deleted!

ANY ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
The biggest problem is that the document root will also be deleted by Plesk even if there are pointing other domains to it. And even the "httpdocs" directory will be deleted by Plesk which does not make any sense.

For example:
domain1.com pointing to httpdocs/domain1
domain2.com pointing to httpdocs

When domain2.com is going to be deleted (or changed to "redirect"), the whole directory "httpdocs" will also be deleted by Plesk. This means that the content of domain1.com is lost.

It exists in the latest Plesk version 11.5.30. Consider upgrade possibility.
