  • The BIND DNS server has already been deprecated and removed from Plesk for Windows.
If a Plesk for Windows server is still using BIND, the upgrade to Plesk Obsidian 18.0.70 will be unavailable until the administrator switches the DNS server to Microsoft DNS. We strongly recommend transitioning to Microsoft DNS within the next 6 weeks, before the Plesk 18.0.70 release.
  • The Horde component is removed from Plesk Installer. We recommend switching to another webmail software supported in Plesk.

Bugs when setting up wildcard DNS?

clinton4

Regular Pleskian
Hi,

I am using Plesk Panel 9.5.4 on a Centos box.

I do this to enable wildcard DNS on a domain.

1. Create CNAME record *.mydomain.com
2. Create vhost.conf with the line: ServerAlias *.mydomain.com
3. Restart Apache.

Now, when i visit xxx.mydomain.com, i get the default plesk page. Not the main mydomain.com page. This is wrong!

To get the wildcard to point to the main mydomain.com page, i need to*click the suspend button and then click the unsuspend button. Now the wildcard points to the main mydomain.com page.

Why do i need to suspend/unsuspend to get this to work correctly?

Also i would like to say, there is so MANY anoying unresolved bugs with all Plesk products i have used in my time. So i'am realy considering changing software.
