  • The Horde component is removed from Plesk Installer. We recommend switching to another webmail software supported in Plesk.
  • The BIND DNS server has already been deprecated and removed from Plesk for Windows.
If a Plesk for Windows server is still using BIND, the upgrade to Plesk Obsidian 18.0.70 will be unavailable until the administrator switches the DNS server to Microsoft DNS. We strongly recommend transitioning to Microsoft DNS within the next 6 weeks, before the Plesk 18.0.70 release.

can plesk be uninstalled without wiping out existing sites?

Hello,

I'm considering trying plesk, but I've been told that once you start creating sites using plesk, you are basically stuck with plesk. If you remove plesk, you'll remove those sites and have to go and add them back into IIS manually. Is this true?

Also, what if i already have existing sites set up when i install plesk?
I also have smarterstats, and gene6 ftp installed. Is it going to mess those up?

And lastly, if i have other servers (IIS6) with websites i want to import into the server with plesk on it, does plesk have any sort of import tool? I saw the post about the migration tool, but i wasn't clear if that's just migrating from one version of plesk to another.

thanks

With Plesk you should not edit sites manually
It configures sites in IIS automatically - you set all the configuration of sites via Plesk interface

when you install Plesk on a server with IIS sites it offers you to migrate these sites to Plesk

Yes it is possible to do that Plesk has special tool that inludes this option - Plesk Migration manager (PMM)

heh...and just last night i finally finished importing all the sites onto the server ;)

I've gotten conflicting messages regarding uninstalling plesk. My ISP (which is the ones who would be installing plesk for me) say that removing plesk removes all the sites from IIS as well. Plesk support however says uninstalling plesk will not uninstall the sites.

I think for now I'm going to not install plesk. I'll probably be getting a 2nd server in a few weeks...maybe I will try out plesk on that one, assuming plesk will work with IIS7.
