• The BIND DNS server has already been deprecated and removed from Plesk for Windows.
If a Plesk for Windows server is still using BIND, the upgrade to Plesk Obsidian 18.0.70 will be unavailable until the administrator switches the DNS server to Microsoft DNS. We strongly recommend transitioning to Microsoft DNS within the next 6 weeks, before the Plesk 18.0.70 release.
  • The Horde component is removed from Plesk Installer. We recommend switching to another webmail software supported in Plesk.

Question Cronjob to update/sync Slave DNS Manager manually (automated)

Julian Johannsen

Basic Pleskian
Dear Pleskians,

we have following Setup:

Master / Plesk / DNS Master (Debian 9, Plesk Onyx 17.x), HOST.XYZ.TLD
Slave DNS only Bind9 (Debian 9), NS1.XYZ.TLD
Slave DNS only Bind9 (Debian 9); NS2.XYZ.TLD

If we create a Domain on our Plesk-Server (Hosting Edition), Plesk create the DNS zones for it. Then we sync all zones to our two Slave DNS Server with the Slave DNS Manager extension.

We need the Cronjob, to send manually (automated) the updates from "Master" to our "Slaves". Named DNS Servers (NIC) are NS1 and NS2. In Plesk there us an Button called "resync".

So far we have not found a description of this.

Thank you for your help :)
All the best
Julian

Hi, you can use this command,

/usr/sbin/plesk repair dns -y

this syncs database info with bind, so also triggers Slave DNS Manager extension.

Best regards,
AR Sánchez
