  • The BIND DNS server has already been deprecated and removed from Plesk for Windows.
    If a Plesk for Windows server is still using BIND, the upgrade to Plesk Obsidian 18.0.70 will be unavailable until the administrator switches the DNS server to Microsoft DNS. We strongly recommend transitioning to Microsoft DNS within the next 6 weeks, before the Plesk 18.0.70 release.
  • The Horde component is removed from Plesk Installer. We recommend switching to another webmail software supported in Plesk.

Database user "Allow remote connections from" option denied access for localhost

Aaron Elias

New Pleskian
Hi

I am running Plesk 12.5.30 on Windows Server 2012.

I have set up a user (say, site_conn) for access to the MySQL database. If I select the option Allow remote connections from on the Database > Database Users screen, I then get errors on our site saying that access is denied for user 'site_conn'@'localhost'.

According to the documentation, this option should allow local connections;

Allow remote connections from (the specified hosts). Select to allow access from the specified host names or IP addresses. Note that local connections will be allowed too.

I have tried specifying localhost as one of the allowed hosts, but this is not retained. I also tried 127.0.01 and ::0 - but still get the error. I therefore have to switch back to the Allow remote connections from any host which is not ideal for security reasons.

Can anyone point me in the right direction please?
