  • The BIND DNS server has already been deprecated and removed from Plesk for Windows.
If a Plesk for Windows server is still using BIND, the upgrade to Plesk Obsidian 18.0.70 will be unavailable until the administrator switches the DNS server to Microsoft DNS. We strongly recommend transitioning to Microsoft DNS within the next 6 weeks, before the Plesk 18.0.70 release.
  • The Horde component is removed from Plesk Installer. We recommend switching to another webmail software supported in Plesk.

DNS configured as open resolver by default.

New Pleskian
Hello Guys,

I have a lot of problem. Seems that the default installation of Bind on Windows plesk 11.x (i don't know if is also for Linux), configure bind by default as open resolver. Then we must fix the problem using this kb:

http://kb.parallels.com/en/3414

I'm wondering if i'm doing a wrong installation, of this type of installation is by default. In the second case, is there any reason?

Thank you.

Thanks for the link, but the point is not how to fix, but why the default installation configure bind as
open resolver dns. In the last few months, all of these open resolver are used to bring up DNS Amplification attacks,
so I think that the plesk default installation should configure automatically bind to not have recursion open from
all internet.
