  • The BIND DNS server has already been deprecated and removed from Plesk for Windows.
If a Plesk for Windows server is still using BIND, the upgrade to Plesk Obsidian 18.0.70 will be unavailable until the administrator switches the DNS server to Microsoft DNS. We strongly recommend transitioning to Microsoft DNS within the next 6 weeks, before the Plesk 18.0.70 release.
  • The Horde component is removed from Plesk Installer. We recommend switching to another webmail software supported in Plesk.

Question Exclude files and databases for certain domains

Ben Crowley

New Pleskian
Hi,

Under "Tools & Settings > Backup Manager", is it possible to exclude files and databases from the backups for certain domains?

It says "You can only exclude files within webspaces. Specify the path or paths relative to the webspace root, separating individual files with commas. Using the mask symbol is allowed (e.g. /somedir/log*)."

If you can only exclude files, what would the path be, the full root path e.g. /var/www/vhosts/...

Thanks,

Ben

For example, you have a big video file for domain blabla.com and you need to exclude this file from backup.
Just specify the full path to this file like

/var/www/vhosts/blabla.com/httpdocs/videos/HUGEVIDEOFILEOFMYWIFE.mp4

Hi Igor,

When I tried to do this file path (/var/www/... etc.) on a domain level backup (rather than server wide), it didn't exclude the file. I could only specify files within httpdocs. e.g. /SomeFileOrFolderInHTTPDOCS....

Can root paths be specified in the "Server backup" exclude box?

Also, can certain databases be excluded too using the same method?

I need to clarify this in advance, as the backup will be HUGE otherwise!

Thanks,

Ben
