  • The BIND DNS server has already been deprecated and removed from Plesk for Windows.
If a Plesk for Windows server is still using BIND, the upgrade to Plesk Obsidian 18.0.70 will be unavailable until the administrator switches the DNS server to Microsoft DNS. We strongly recommend transitioning to Microsoft DNS within the next 6 weeks, before the Plesk 18.0.70 release.
  • The Horde component is removed from Plesk Installer. We recommend switching to another webmail software supported in Plesk.

Resolved Failed to update the extension (Debian 8 VPS)

TimReeves

Regular Pleskian
I run Plesk on about 7 servers, all Debian 8 or 9, all without Bind installed (the Domains are all managed at domain specialist companies). All Updating is going fine everywhere, except at one server I am now seeing the warning popup (bottom right) when logged in to Plesk:

Failed to update the extension
Execution of /opt/psa/tmp/moduleQIxvB5/plib/scripts/pre-install.php failed with exit code 1 and the output:
DNS Service is not installed on this instance.

I know that there are various known problems, e.g. with the Lets Encrypt Extension, when Bind is not installed. But with this message, I don't know where to start. Can anyone give me a tip?

Thanks, Tim
