From Mariadb 10.1 to mariadb 5 or Mysql

Hello,

I currently use hhvm + nginx + mariadb 10.1. I was wondering if there will some issues with the database after migration? I am about trying plesk again on Ubuntu 14.4 (always has issues with this setup) or Centos.

Is it safe to downgrade the database server?
