  • The BIND DNS server has already been deprecated and removed from Plesk for Windows.
If a Plesk for Windows server is still using BIND, the upgrade to Plesk Obsidian 18.0.70 will be unavailable until the administrator switches the DNS server to Microsoft DNS. We strongly recommend transitioning to Microsoft DNS within the next 6 weeks, before the Plesk 18.0.70 release.
  • The Horde component is removed from Plesk Installer. We recommend switching to another webmail software supported in Plesk.

FTP Connection Problems

I have been having issues when trying to connect to the FTP on my virtual private server.

It just seems to get stuck at the "Waiting for welcome message".

I have searched for hours online and have tried adding the "UseReverseDNS off" and "IdentLookups off" configuration directives however have had no joy.

It does seem to eventually connect however it will take multiple tries and usually connects after a minimum of 30 seconds.

I am using Plesk 9.5 and I believe it to be ProFTPD 1.3.2e.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I having sort of the same issue is there a solution for this yet or are we stuck. To be honest i would like to stop proftp all together and use vsftpd but when i try to install vsftp from apt-get it tells me i got to remove all of plesk :(

Hello,

Changing the ftp server will not help. I would suggest looking in /var/log/messages for any brute force attempts on the ftp server. The internet connection between you and the server can also be a problem. Create a big file in your httpdocs folder and try to download it from browser to see the speed. I also suggest changing the default ftp port to a higher value.

Cheers.
