• The BIND DNS server has already been deprecated and removed from Plesk for Windows.
If a Plesk for Windows server is still using BIND, the upgrade to Plesk Obsidian 18.0.70 will be unavailable until the administrator switches the DNS server to Microsoft DNS. We strongly recommend transitioning to Microsoft DNS within the next 6 weeks, before the Plesk 18.0.70 release.
  • The Horde component is removed from Plesk Installer. We recommend switching to another webmail software supported in Plesk.

Issue FTP not connecting to domain name

Goatpod

New Pleskian
Hello,

New to Plesk so may be being a complete idiot, but...

I'm trying to connect to my site (transferred from Cpanel) via ftp.
Normally I would use: ftp.mydomainname.com

I've set up username and password and tried to connect but ftp.mydomainname.com cannot be found. Website and everything else is working fine. Is there something I need to set up in the DNS settings?

Is there something I've missed?

Thanks
Dave

Make sure that you have corresponding DNS record for ftp.mydomainname.com in domain's DNS Settings and this hostname is correctly resolvable. Or just try to use mydomainname.com for connection.

Thanks for your response, IgorG.
Just a quick stupid question whereabouts would I add it in the DNS record - don't want to go screwing up! Would it be added as a CNAME?

Actually it should be created by default, but please check it in DNS Settings of your domain:

I've checked under the Plesk DNS settings for the domain and it is set as ftp.domainname.com, but I'm running a 1&1 dedicated server and under the 1&1 control panel for the domain name it has a list of DNS setting there as well. Which one should I be using for all my DNS setting? The Plesk control panel or the 1&1 control panel.

Thanks for your help :)

Sorry, but I know nothing about 1&1 control panel. And if problem on their side, please ask their support :)
