Fuse and SSHSF?

Yep, and I assume you mean sshfs right? Fuse is only working in FC5 and above. Or if you're using ASL, its in the 2.6 kernels.
 
thanks for the reply, although i'm a bit of a noob. I have a centos 4.4 box. not sure how that maps to fedora et al

incidentally, if i built it is there a way for me to clean it out of my system? i'm going to do a recursive scp i guess.

Clean what, the kernel? Im not even going to touch that one :p Read the kernel docs if you want to get into it. Personally I install kernels one way, by creating my own rpms.
