Question How to redirect a single host directory to another folder

I'm trying to set up an application that is running in Nginx only hosting mode.

I need to redirect the directory from /var/www/vhosts/domain to /var/www/newdirectory/

How can I do this?

So the application is installed in /var/www/app1/

The web facing directory is located in /var/www/app1/public/

I need to setup a subdomain that points to that public folder.

I have tried to change the home folder in the hosting settings but it doesn't allow you to set it to system folders.
