  • Support for BIND DNS has been removed from Plesk for Windows due to security and maintenance risks.
If a Plesk for Windows server is still using BIND, the upgrade to Plesk Obsidian 18.0.70 will be unavailable until the administrator switches the DNS server to Microsoft DNS.

Is Plesk compatible with...

OC2PS.

New Pleskian
I am planning to set up a dedicated server with the following settings:
  • Centos 6 64-bit
  • Apache web server
  • MySQL, Percona server
  • PHP with PHP-FPM enabled
  • Zend Optimizer+ OpCode cache
  • Memcache for MySQL
  • Varnish reverse proxy for static content
  • Zabbix
  • NewRelic
  • Mod_security
  • CSF firewall
  • rkhunter rootkit scanner
  • Bastille Linux
  • Mod_pagespeed
I have the option of getting Plesk 11.x and I would love to do so - Plesk makes administration so much easier.

But some folks have me scared. They tell me that since Plesk has its own rpm's, many of the above will probably not be compatible with Plesk, e.g. PHP-FPM, Varnish, Zabbix, New Relic, mod_security, csf, mod_pagespeed, etc. Others say that I might miss security fixes etc as Plesk's custom rpm's are several versions behind.

Please can someone help me understand
  1. which of the above items Plesk is compatible with?
  2. which versions of the above are available in Plesk rpms?

From the list you posted and on the OS you posted nothing is packaged by Parallels. So you should not worry about Parallels not providing security fixes for these components fast enough.

There might be issues with supporting or configuring some of these components in Plesk. I suggest searching these forums for particular issues. Keep in mind that Plesk evolves and something you find may not be applicable to the latest version (e.g., PHP-FPM+nginx as well as Percona Server are properly supported since Plesk 11.5).

Super! Thanks, Nikolay.

May I ask by way of clarification: Does Plesk 11.5 support PHP-FPM on Apache 2.4?
