  • The BIND DNS server has already been deprecated and removed from Plesk for Windows.
If a Plesk for Windows server is still using BIND, the upgrade to Plesk Obsidian 18.0.70 will be unavailable until the administrator switches the DNS server to Microsoft DNS. We strongly recommend transitioning to Microsoft DNS within the next 6 weeks, before the Plesk 18.0.70 release.
  • The Horde component is removed from Plesk Installer. We recommend switching to another webmail software supported in Plesk.

Issue with server behind firewall

I am testing this product and would like to do an x-copy to the same server, but the sever is located behind a PIX and does not have DNS resolve. I can't make x-copy work without DNS resolve, can I? It seems silly for a simple x-copy to resolve domain when it has nothing to di with it. Is there a work around? I'd like to make this run before we jump into purchase.

Thanks
Jeff

18 views and no replys. I guess that sums this product up. At least there are 4 or 5 others to choose from.

You could use direct IPs to avoid problem with DNS resolving.

This line will not accept an IP address.

Web site URL The web site URL you provided is invalid.

The address the site is available at after publication. E.g. http://domainname.com

This is under publishing setting when you use X-Copy. When I attempt to put the correct domain name in the line I get an error message that reads:

Location status: Error

Details:
Web site URL is invalid.

I have added the domain name in the machines host file and can bring it up in a browser. Agian, this is in add new site in the tab called Publishing Settings using XCOPY and the upper part of the form.

In spite of that there is said following in publication settings:
"The address the site is available at after publication. E.g. http://domainname.com "
it is possible to use following format:

http://IP_ADDRESS

Please check it one more time. In this case you should avoid DNS resolving.
If you still have problems give me more information about how it is not possible to enter IP address instead of host name.

Tried that already. Here is the result using the IP address of the same server:

Location status: Error

Details:
Web site URL is invalid.

I do have the latest version, and I am working with Windows so the demo does not do much good. Should I switch to Linux?

There is easily could be just a common error message, that says you have problem with publication place. Check please if files has been published already. And if so - try to access published site via browser. Does it work fine? If not - you have problem with publication place.
