  • The BIND DNS server has already been deprecated and removed from Plesk for Windows.
If a Plesk for Windows server is still using BIND, the upgrade to Plesk Obsidian 18.0.70 will be unavailable until the administrator switches the DNS server to Microsoft DNS. We strongly recommend transitioning to Microsoft DNS within the next 6 weeks, before the Plesk 18.0.70 release.
  • The Horde component is removed from Plesk Installer. We recommend switching to another webmail software supported in Plesk.

Issue Lets Encrypt Wildcard Certificate and non local DNS Server

fragger1991

New Pleskian
Hello,

we are updating to the new Plesk Obsidian, there i enabled the Wildcard Support for Lets Encrypt. But we are using external DNS Server, so every Night we get an E-Mail from Plesk Panel with the Following Content:

Code:
* 'Lets Encrypt domain.de' [days to expire: 86]
[-] *.domain.de
[-] domain.com
[-] domain.de
[-] domain.eu
[-] domain1.de
[-] domain1.eu

Could not retrieve dns service status: DNS service is not enabled

The following Let`s Encrypt certificates have been renewed without some of their Subject Alternative Names:

<none>

There is no other Issue, all Certificates are valid because the external TXT Record are exists.

Please fix this, its really annoying.

Thanks!

During creation of wildcard certificate have you added appropriate records to your external DNS? Sorry for asking but it's not being clear. You say records exist and that's fine but you need to add new records prior CERT creation. Obviously this is automated in Plesk but in case you are using external DNS you need to do this by yourself. Just asking.

More here: Getting Free Wildcard SSL/TLS Certificates from Let’s Encrypt

"Note: If Plesk does not manage the DNS for the domain, the Let’s Encrypt extension cannot add the DNS record automatically. In this case, you will see the following message: “Please add a DNS record with the following parameters”. Add a DNS record with the specified parameters manually. If you are unsure how to do it, ask your DNS hosting provider for assistance."

The Problem is only this message:
Code:
Could not retrieve dns service status: DNS service is not enabled

We have no installed and running DNS Service on the Plesk Server itself.

As I already say, we using external DNS and have no other Issues with the Certificates, so it's very Clear, that all are setuped correctly if we have no other issues on it.
