• Our team is looking to connect with folks who use email services provided by Plesk, or a premium service. • The BIND DNS server has already been deprecated and removed from Plesk for Windows.
If a Plesk for Windows server is still using BIND, the upgrade to Plesk Obsidian 18.0.70 will be unavailable until the administrator switches the DNS server to Microsoft DNS. We strongly recommend transitioning to Microsoft DNS within the next 6 weeks, before the Plesk 18.0.70 release.
  • The Horde component is removed from Plesk Installer. We recommend switching to another webmail software supported in Plesk.

Moving Files Between Domains

Hi,

I have Virtual Privater Server hosting with Fasthosts in the UK. I am running Plesk Panel 9.3.

I have 2 domains:

Domain 1
Domain 2

I have used 'Domain 1' for website development and 'Domain 2' for hosting the developed websites live.

I want to move all files from http://domain1.etc/site to http://domain2.etc/

I have looked forever at ways to make this job easier, but I'm currently downloading via FTP all appropriate Domain1 files to my local machine, then uploading them to Domain2. Surely, because they're on the same server, I can simply do a drag and drop from Domain1/site subfolder to Domain2 httpdocs?

I have looked at Migration Manager and that doesn't look like its the thing I need. I have also tried to use Akeeba Backup (yes, it's a Joomla site) but the .jpa file still hadn't uploaded to the File Manager in Plesk after over a day of seeing the 'Loading...' button. When I looked after stopping the upload, there was nothing in the Domain2 httpdocs at all! Waste of 24 hours!

I have tried FTP via FileZilla and Firefox's FireFTP and these seem to be OK, but moving whole sites with video and other related content down to my iMac and then uploading them to the same server (!!) doesn't sound like a very Plesk/'server-side' way of doing things. I have looked through these forums, but nothing similar hits me!

Any help appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

But why you can't develop site on other server or on your workstation and synchronize all changes via FTP to Plesk server?
Also you can use Domain 2 ad Domain alias for Domain 1.
