• The BIND DNS server has already been deprecated and removed from Plesk for Windows.
If a Plesk for Windows server is still using BIND, the upgrade to Plesk Obsidian 18.0.70 will be unavailable until the administrator switches the DNS server to Microsoft DNS. We strongly recommend transitioning to Microsoft DNS within the next 6 weeks, before the Plesk 18.0.70 release.
  • The Horde component is removed from Plesk Installer. We recommend switching to another webmail software supported in Plesk.

Permissions model - need consulting!

Hi all,

I've been a Plesk user for a while and we've come to a point where we need to change some things that are not possible without a further knowlege on how Plesk works.

For an instance, I have a dedicated server at godaddy where I install websites that are deployed on top of a framework.
So I have configured my framework as the skeleton, so all domains created with physical hosting already have the framework ready for configuration.

We're wasting a lot of time setting permission on all necessary folders.
I was wondering if anybody has been able to work the permission model in a way that permission can be aplied to certain folders when the account is created and the framework is automatically set up.

Would be like being able to set permission to the skeleton, so it would reflect on the framework I use.
Besides that I need guidance on how to fast and easily backup and restore websites (along with sql server 2005 express database) among different servers.

One other implementation that would help a lot is the ability to setup SQL SERVER 2005 EXPRESS to apply a predefined structure to all databases created. So I dont have to create and run the script that will structure the database (tables, views, stored procedures, data, etc).

Other aspects that would help me improve my business is security, as of now I have only the default security applied to my accounts.

My accounts are setup with Plesk 8.3 for windows, running SQL Server Express 2005 with asp.net 2.0 enabled.
As of now I have only two accounts, one VPS and one Dedicated, but my business is growing so fast that new servers will be hired under demand.

If you can help or offer me consulting on how to reach the above described needs, Id appreciate your thoughts and estimate.

Thank you so much
