• The BIND DNS server has already been deprecated and removed from Plesk for Windows.
If a Plesk for Windows server is still using BIND, the upgrade to Plesk Obsidian 18.0.70 will be unavailable until the administrator switches the DNS server to Microsoft DNS. We strongly recommend transitioning to Microsoft DNS within the next 6 weeks, before the Plesk 18.0.70 release.
  • The Horde component is removed from Plesk Installer. We recommend switching to another webmail software supported in Plesk.

Problem with Plesk 8.6 installation with Windows 2008 Web Server

Dear All

I'm trying to install plesk_8.6.0_build080722.15 in my Virtual Server with Windows 2008 Web Editition
Everything is work fine until I setup database
I select Microsoft SQL Database and Web Server is IIS (be default)
and I see the you are already remove windows 2000 DE from this version
So it look like I'm forced to use 2005 Express :p

So this is the problem, after I setup Password for plesk I got this message

Product: Parallels Plesk Control Panel 8.6.0 for Microsoft Windows -- Command "C:\Program Files\Parallels\Plesk\Databases\MSSQL\90\Tools\Binn\OSQL.EXE" -E -Q "ALTER LOGIN sa ENABLE; ALTER LOGIN sa WITH PASSWORD='4RbKnHEq3HTFQQPj'" failed with code 1.
Output:
The system cannot find the path specified.

Abort -- click to abort the installation
Retry -- click to retry performing the action
Ignore -- click to ignore the error and continue installation

and after investigation, I found that the MSSQL 2005 Express is install in
C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\90\Tools\Binn

but its database is install in
C:\Program Files\Parallels\Plesk\Databases\MSSQL\MSSQL.1\MSSQL

So it's the problem, right?
did someone got this error like me?

=== Add ====
I try to manual (then, click ignore :p) but I got this error...may not be error some how in my view.

C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\90\Tools\Binn\>OSQL.EXE -E -Q "ALTER LOGIN sa ENABLE; ALTER LOGIN sa WITH PASSWORD='4RbKnHEq3HTFQQPj'"

Microsoft (R) SQL Server Command Line Tool
Version 9.00.3042.00 NT INTEL X86
Copyright (c) Microsoft Corporation. All rights reserved.

Note: osql does not support all features of SQL Server 2005.
Use sqlcmd instead. See SQL Server Books Online for details.

=== Add more ===
So I change to
sqlcmd.EXE -E -Q "ALTER LOGIN sa ENABLE; ALTER LOGIN sa WITH PASSWORD='4RbKnHEq3HTFQQPj'"

and then. ignore the error.
Plesk is now working.
I guest this is some part of wrong script....

Watch out. Plesk isn't stable on Windows 2008. We're running Plesk 8.6 and there are a whole ton of issues that it causes. It simply doesn't work well.

Sorry guys but I have been running Plesk on Win2008 web and standard and have no problems (at least no big ones).
Can you give a list of the problems?

I have gone from 8.3->8.4->8.6 on Win2008, last time I also did a complete fresh install. I have had FTP and Statistics errors but they are solved. Now some small problems between Smartermail and Plesk and backup problems but no major ones.

Hi, I'm Back after sent this error for a few month
and recheck the installation file again
and I found that current installation file still have my problem.

but zebrafilm said that he have no problem
So I question why it happen to me
Do I miss something required by plesk 8.6 for windows 2008???

I think zebrafilm might use different configuration from me
as I said, I select Microsoft SQL as Database (and it should be Microsoft SQL 2005 by default)
and Web Server is IIS (be default) too

So I think zebrafilm might use MySQL or Access instead of Microsoft SQL Express 2005
So he didn't get this problem.

and other opinion, I think MSDE might not install because I select to install Microsoft SQL Express 2005...
(So condition or something have to add here for SQL command in diffent version of microsoft sql.)

see my error, OSQL.EXE command that package try to run is not existed now because it's microsoft sql 2005 express replace that command with sqlcmd.EXE...

that it...

Can I know how do you get statistics.exe running? My 8.6 on windows 2008 is giving problem with statistics. I already have latest version of plesk 8.6 cause updater shows no new version for me to update.

Problems with Plesk 8.6 and IIS7 Custom Error Docs

Hi

I've also got problems with Plesk 8.6 and IIS7.

I've just moved a site from Plesk 8.6 IIS6 to Plesk 8.6 IIS7 but the custom error docs don't work as expected.

On IIS6 I had a custom error document set up (type URL) to point to the index file (index.cfm). This was used to provide friendly filenames by referencing the cgi.server_name variable and then delivering content from the database matching the required filename.

On IIS7 the file does not get processed in the same way and just works as a simple redirect. cgi.server_name contains nothing. This means that only the index page is accessible.

Has anyone else experienced this or any suggestions please?

Thanks

Ash
