qmail problems after plesk update - important!!

Hi,

i have updated my plesk with th updater on the interface. But then i can't receive any mails. Also local mails (from my@mail.de to my@mail.de) doesn't work ...

also the update doesn't work. I can update, and he says he's updating, but after update, it looks exactly like before (see: http://hrs.amshove.net/plesk.JPG )
i've searched a lot, and found a similar problem caused by updating drweb, but this isn't my problem i think, i tried the solutions without results.


The update-problem is not so important, but it is very important to get the mail-system run!!

can anyone help me? i have absolutely no idea, where to search for this problem.

You could try and update from the command line with autoinstaller, that might give you some error or warnings which then might give you some ideas how to fix your problem.

When I tried to update plesk to 8.1.1 through the web updater, it never changed any status either, similar to your screenshot, but when I tried from the command line it worked straight away, on my fedora core 5 machine the autoinstaller is located at /usr/local/psa/admin/bin/autoinstaller

add --help for some short help or read the manual

Solution for all your Problems

Anleitung in Deutsch / First in German, english following downstairs.
Hallo es gibt zahlreiche Probleme die nach dem Update von Plesk 8.1 auf Plesk 8.11 aufgetreten sind. Uns ist zunächst nur ein Problem aufgefallen, unser SMTP Dienst lies sich nicht mehr neu starten. Die Fehlermeldung im Logfile hatte mit Qmail_local zu tun.
Auf der Suche nach Lösungen, nach Gesprächen mit unserem Provider und SWSoft selbst wurden wir letztlich in einem Blog fündig: http://blog.helmschrott.de/intern/plesk-811-update-wieder-mal-probleme.
Nach dieser Anleitung fiel mir ein, das ich zufällig zu dem Zeitpunkt den RBL+ Dienst aktiviert hatte. Dieser Fehler zieht offenbar nicht ganz nachvollziehbare Kreise.
Im Forum sprachen manche Benutzer von einem Ausfall des SMTP, FTP, DNS und Spamassassin. Bei uns selbst gab es neben dem ausgefallenen SMTP auch noch das Phänomen des gestörten FTP Dienstes.

Nach dem befolgen der unten stehenden Anleitung war sowohl der SMTP als auch der FTP wieder vollfunktionsfähig. Wohlgemerkt liefen die Dienste erst nach dem Neustart des ganzen Servers wieder.

1. Schritt: Server/Diensteverwaltung - SMTP ausschalten
2. Schritt: Mail-Queue/Warteschlange löschen
3. Schritt: Unterstützung für Trend Micro RBL+-Dienst aktivieren, speichern, -> Unterstützung für Trend Micro RBL+-Dienst deaktivieren, speichern
4. Schritt: Server/Diensteverwaltung - SMTP neu starten
5. Schritt: Server neu starten


An now in english:

Hello their are several Problems after updating from Plesk 8.1 to Plesk 8.11. We first notice just one Problem, our SMTP won´t work anymore, we can´t restart him.
The Logfiles tells us, that the Problem has something to do with Qmail_local.
Meanwhile we are searching for Solutions, after Calls to Our Provider and the German Headquarter of SWsoft itself we suddenly found the Answers on a German Blog: http://blog.helmschrott.de/intern/plesk-811-update-wieder-mal-probleme.
After reading this Howto I remember, that I´ve activatet at the same time the RBL+ Feature into Plesk. It´s a little funny, wich bigger Problems are coming with this. I´ve red into this Forum that somebody has the Problem, that lots of Services stopped working: SMTP, FTP, DNS und Spamassassin. We just had first the SMTP Problem an later on a Customer called that he can´t connect through FTP.

After doing every step in the following Howto, believe it or not, everything works again SMTP and FTP also. Important to say you don´t have to forget restart your entire Server at the end.

1. Step: Server/Service Management SMTP Server (QMail) stopping
2. Step: Mail-Queue delete everything
3. Step: Enable support for Trend Micro RBL+ Service aktivate & save, -> Enable support for Trend Micro RBL+ Service deaktivate & save
4. Step: Server/Service Management SMTP Server (QMail) start
5. Step: Server restart

Still having exactly the same problem, and the solution mentioned didnt helped..

Using a FreeBSD 6.2 Machine with Plesk 8.1.1

Anyone else who has a solution maybe ?

First we had :

qmail-local-handlers[99857]: starter: submitter[99858] with error code 100
qmail-local-handlers[99857]: mailsend: wait for submitter failed
qmail-local-handlers[99857]: cannot reinject message to mail system

in the /usr/local/psa/var/log/maillog

after some searching i copied
/usr/local/psa/qmail/bin/qmail-local.moved
to
/usr/local/psa/qmail/bin/qmail-local

And the error was gone.

Strange but i think that the compile of the qmail-local.plesk didnt worked out well
