I am trying to setup a cron job to run every 5 minutes to copy files from one server to another.
I can run the command manually but it prompts for a password which is inconsistent with a cron job.
e.g.
rsync -avz -e ssh root@192.168.10.29:/var/www/vhosts/source.com/httpdocs /var/www/vhosts/destination.com/
Surely this has been done 1000's of times.
When trying to follow instructions via google, e.g. http://troy.jdmz.net/rsync/index.html
I run into trouble logging in via ssh, using my remote user (<>root), and issuing the command
mkdir .ssh
I get a permission error. Should this be in the user's home ?
If anyone has the exact sequence to use it would be most helpful
