PROBLEM DESCRIPTION

A subscription (or client) gets suspended. Eventually the security cert expires. The security cert is not renewed [showing the SSL warning], when it should get renewed [and continue showing "domain is suspened']

STEPS TO REPRODUCE

suspend a client or subscription. Wait for security cert to expire.

ACTUAL RESULT

when visting the domain it shows a security cert warning about an expired cert.

EXPECTED RESULT

continue to show the maintenance page (or whatever is configured to be shown as "suspended")

I would argue that this is expected behaviour, as noted in the documentation:

Websites, FTP, and mail services of suspended subscriptions are no longer available to the Internet users, unless the Active status for websites was selected.

Indicating that all services of the subscription are suspended, which would include the renewal of certifications.

Yes, a range of services becomes unavailable when a subscription is suspended. This is by design. A suspended subscription must not consume resources (or as little as possible).

Thanks. I'll have to do a script that automatically re-enables accounts like that for a few seconds, does a cert renewal, then disabled it again.
Having our clients website visitors see a cert alert instead of a polite / suggestive "hasn't paid (yet)" isn't really cool.
