  • The BIND DNS server has already been deprecated and removed from Plesk for Windows.
If a Plesk for Windows server is still using BIND, the upgrade to Plesk Obsidian 18.0.70 will be unavailable until the administrator switches the DNS server to Microsoft DNS. We strongly recommend transitioning to Microsoft DNS within the next 6 weeks, before the Plesk 18.0.70 release.
  • The Horde component is removed from Plesk Installer. We recommend switching to another webmail software supported in Plesk.

Question Send email from a domain's IPv6

Json

New Pleskian
Hello all

There is the option to send emails from the domain's IP address in the mail server settings. This is fine, however I want it to use the IPv6 address rather than the IPv4 which it seems to prioritise. Is there a way around this?

My objective is to give each of my customers their own IP address for sending emails so they can be responsible for their own external reputations. My service provider charges monthly for each extra IPv4 so that wouldn't be sustainable and they're happy to give me as many IPv6 as I need for free.

Also worth noting that you can set up a domain with IPv6-only and then it will use that address for outgoing mail, however my impression is that IPv6-only is still not recommended practise and many spam filters mark messages as spam if there is no A record for the sending domain.

Thanks!
