  • The BIND DNS server has already been deprecated and removed from Plesk for Windows.
If a Plesk for Windows server is still using BIND, the upgrade to Plesk Obsidian 18.0.70 will be unavailable until the administrator switches the DNS server to Microsoft DNS. We strongly recommend transitioning to Microsoft DNS within the next 6 weeks, before the Plesk 18.0.70 release.
  • The Horde component is removed from Plesk Installer. We recommend switching to another webmail software supported in Plesk.

SiteBuilder Problems...

Hi,

I have a website that's created using SiteBuilder 4 and Plesk 8.3.0 that's hosted by UK hosting company.

However, after I published the site, I noticed that the webpage filenames for the site web put into a sub folder on the site called "site".

The end result is that the URLs look like this:

http://www.aptsoftware.co.uk/site/page1.aspx
http://www.aptsoftware.co.uk/site/services.aspx
http://www.aptsoftware.co.uk/site/service1.aspx

You can see this for yourself by visiting www.aptsoftware.co.uk

I think this looks unprofessional. It looks odd and out of place and might appear so to web visitors, especially those that are likely to visit this site.

The URLs should look like this:

http://www.aptsoftware.co.uk/page1.aspx
http://www.aptsoftware.co.uk/services.aspx
http://www.aptsoftware.co.uk/service1.aspx

I would assume that there would be someway in which this can be configured or set via Plesk, but that this is probably under the control of the hosting company?

Can you tell me or would it be possible to find out how this is done, as this is vital to the website and whether I continue to use the product and current hosting package. I have only just recently purchased this, so I still have some time to cancel the plan if I need to.

Also, I need to be able to name the actual filenames; some of the generated filenames are extremely long filenames that look like codes; this is not professional-looking. I think the filenames are basically system generated ID, possibly GUIDs, that are simply used to form a filename. However, this is not acceptable for publicly visible websites. It's also inconsistent, as some pages have filenames like those above, whereas others have the code-like ones. Obviously, people do see the URLs and this is important to my site.

I would very much appreciate any help on this.

Thank you.

Kind regards,
Darren

As for customer names for page's files this feature already available in Sitebuilder for Linux/Unix version and will be released in future versions of Sitebuilder for Windows.
