• Our team is looking to connect with folks who use email services provided by Plesk, or a premium service. If you'd like to be part of the discovery process and share your experiences, we invite you to complete this short screening survey. If your responses match the persona we are looking for, you'll receive a link to schedule a call at your convenience. We look forward to hearing from you!
  • The BIND DNS server has already been deprecated and removed from Plesk for Windows.
If a Plesk for Windows server is still using BIND, the upgrade to Plesk Obsidian 18.0.70 will be unavailable until the administrator switches the DNS server to Microsoft DNS. We strongly recommend transitioning to Microsoft DNS within the next 6 weeks, before the Plesk 18.0.70 release.
  • The Horde component is removed from Plesk Installer. We recommend switching to another webmail software supported in Plesk.

Hi,

SpamAssasin seems to block only 50% of the spam and we just cannot set it to be more efficient. Here is a detail of our setup :

-DNS Blackhole list server :

sbl.spamhaus.org
zen.spamhaus.org
dnsbl.ahbl.org
dnsbl.njabl.org
dnsbl.sorbs.net
sorbs.dnsbl.net.au
blackholes.five-ten-sg.com
cblplus.anti-spam.org.cn
cblless.anti-spam.org.cn

-The "Hit required for spam" is set to 3.
-The DNS service on the server is active but DNS are switched off on domains.

Now here is a few questions :

1. Is it better to set the hit level to 7 or 3 ?

2. The "Black list" under server mail setting is empty. Is it normal ?

3. How can we make sure the transfer with the DNSBL is effective and working fine ?

Thank you for your time,

Patrick Auger

Some of those blacklists you're using block legitimate traffic quite frequently - they're not intended to be used publicly.

DO NOT reduce the hit ratio to 3! You'll regret it, as a lot of your legitimate email will start getting flagged as spam, and if any of your users have training turned on, this will effectively screw up their ham/spam ratios by tuning the ham as spam.
