• Our team is looking to connect with folks who use email services provided by Plesk, or a premium service. If you'd like to be part of the discovery process and share your experiences, we invite you to complete this short screening survey. If your responses match the persona we are looking for, you'll receive a link to schedule a call at your convenience. We look forward to hearing from you!
  • The BIND DNS server has already been deprecated and removed from Plesk for Windows.
    If a Plesk for Windows server is still using BIND, the upgrade to Plesk Obsidian 18.0.70 will be unavailable until the administrator switches the DNS server to Microsoft DNS. We strongly recommend transitioning to Microsoft DNS within the next 6 weeks, before the Plesk 18.0.70 release.
  • The Horde component is removed from Plesk Installer. We recommend switching to another webmail software supported in Plesk.

SQL database in App_Data under Plesk 9.5.4

I like to be able to upload my SQL database to the App_Data directory and use a connection string like this to attach it:

Data Source=.\SQLEXPRESS;Integrated Security=true;User Instance=true;AttachDBFilename=|DataDirectory|\mydb.mdf;Initial Catalog=mydb.mdf;

However, in order for this to work I have to change the website to use the standard ASP.NET 4.0 application pool instead of the one plesk likes to use "plesk(default)(4.0)(pool)". I then have to add permissions for NETWORK SERVICE to access the httpdocs directory for the site, and give it write access to App_Data. This does work but it's a little hacky and I'm worried it might confuse Plesk and I will end up with problems (such as a website that I am unable to delete properly).

Is there a better way to do this?
