  • The BIND DNS server has already been deprecated and removed from Plesk for Windows.
If a Plesk for Windows server is still using BIND, the upgrade to Plesk Obsidian 18.0.70 will be unavailable until the administrator switches the DNS server to Microsoft DNS. We strongly recommend transitioning to Microsoft DNS within the next 6 weeks, before the Plesk 18.0.70 release.
  • The Horde component is removed from Plesk Installer. We recommend switching to another webmail software supported in Plesk.

Subdomain Wildcard oddness

Basic Pleskian
I've got a weird situation, that I'm trying to explain.

the default domain has a simple html file that redirects to my domain (called mydomain for simplicity).

so going to http://myip takes you to http://mydomain for example.

Let's assume that all domains mentioned here have subdomains. Because of this I cannot add a serveralias *.anydomain.com to any of the domains or else the subdomains will not be available. That's fine.

If you go to anexistingsubdomain.mydomain.com it takes you to the subdomain as it should. If you go to nonexistingsubdomain.mydomain.com it comes up with an error that it can't find the page. Great that works for me. (btw, the error in firefox is the "domain" could not be found, please check the name and try again error. and in IE it takes me to MSN search saying "we can't find the page". That might help)

However if you go to anexistingsubdomain.anyotherdomain.com it takes you to the subdomain as it should (so far so good). BUT if you go to nonexistingsubdomain.anyotherdomain.com it takes you to the default page... why not an error?

Neither of these have a wildcard *.domain.com CNAME setup in their DNS settings, and neither are using serveralias for the vhost as then I couldn't get to the subdomains!

any idea why this is happening? Ideally I'd like to just have an error come up for all of them.. that's better than getting redirected to my default site!

Thanks to anyone who can help,

Jordan
