  • The BIND DNS server has already been deprecated and removed from Plesk for Windows.
If a Plesk for Windows server is still using BIND, the upgrade to Plesk Obsidian 18.0.70 will be unavailable until the administrator switches the DNS server to Microsoft DNS. We strongly recommend transitioning to Microsoft DNS within the next 6 weeks, before the Plesk 18.0.70 release.
  • The Horde component is removed from Plesk Installer. We recommend switching to another webmail software supported in Plesk.

Unable to restart Named

Hello,

I've installed Plesk 10 on my Ubuntu 10 LTS server. After I log in with root and set my password, the next page loads with an error saying "Unable to restart Named: dnsmng failed: dnsmng failed: dnsmng: Service /etc/init.d/bind9 failed to restart"

I am not sure where to debug this error.

Your help is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Do you have any related errors in /var/log/messages ?

Nothing in /var/log/messages, however in /var/log/syslog there was a path to ch-root/etc (somrthing along those lines). So I ran chmod 0777 on everything under there and then it worked. I'm in Plesk now. I know its the right way to fix it, however for now it'll do while we test out Plesk in our office.

Thank you.
