Upgrading FC2 with 7.5.4

I presently have a Fedora Core 2 machine running the 2.6 kernel and want to upgrade it to the latest kernel.

Is this going to be a serious undertaking? I discovered that I cannot use the hdparm with my present kernel and I would like to start investigating/tweaking with it. (I am running two 250GB SATA drives on this system)

Also, has anyone successfully upgraded from FC2 to say FC3 or FC4 without major issues with Plesk and without reinstalling everything and starting from scratch?

I have a dual 64bit CPU server but presently am only running the SMP in 32bit.

If anyone has accomplished either of the above, if you could point me in the right direction or perhaps a link to instructions on doing it I would be greatful.

Thanks,
Marcus
