• The BIND DNS server has already been deprecated and removed from Plesk for Windows.
If a Plesk for Windows server is still using BIND, the upgrade to Plesk Obsidian 18.0.70 will be unavailable until the administrator switches the DNS server to Microsoft DNS. We strongly recommend transitioning to Microsoft DNS within the next 6 weeks, before the Plesk 18.0.70 release.
  • The Horde component is removed from Plesk Installer. We recommend switching to another webmail software supported in Plesk.

Hi,

I have a virtual private server with Plesk Control Panel v8.6 running on a Microsoft Windows Server 2003 machine.

1. Is there a cost to upgrade to the latest version?

2. What is the procedure by which to do so?

Thanks,

Sarah.

I might as well answer my own question for prosterity sake.

The answer is that upgrades are free.

1. Go to downloads.
2. Download the 1.2 MByte download.
3. Upload to the server.
4. Execute on the server like any other Windows executable.
5. Done.

As a side comment, the product needs a v10.0 that gives functionality like other control panels that I have used, namely custom error pages that can reside anywhere and process PHP; better handling of https and http and where they reside; a better email client; and more of IIS exposed.

What is not free is support.

Back on topic. I went through the upgrade and I am now at 9.3 from 8.6 with no issues.
