• Our team is looking to connect with folks who use email services provided by Plesk, or a premium service. If you'd like to be part of the discovery process and share your experiences, we invite you to complete this short screening survey. If your responses match the persona we are looking for, you'll receive a link to schedule a call at your convenience. We look forward to hearing from you!
  • The BIND DNS server has already been deprecated and removed from Plesk for Windows.
If a Plesk for Windows server is still using BIND, the upgrade to Plesk Obsidian 18.0.70 will be unavailable until the administrator switches the DNS server to Microsoft DNS. We strongly recommend transitioning to Microsoft DNS within the next 6 weeks, before the Plesk 18.0.70 release.
  • The Horde component is removed from Plesk Installer. We recommend switching to another webmail software supported in Plesk.

    serious email woes

I have two different domains. One has email disabled, and the mx records redirected to another server -- which works fine. part two is the problem. The second domain has email hosted locally, and one user is forwarding their email to the server with the MX redirect. Problem: The user gets...

    email is forwarding non-existant addresses

new info: Although the dns reports that the MX record for mail.example.net is pointing to mail.example.com, it is apparently going to the default domain on the server (which is capturing all incoming email).

    spam filtering disabled?

The usage policy for spam assassin is set to "personal settings" -- but under the user's mail preferences, it says that spam assassin is disabled? Do I need to restart something for it to take?

Viewing one domain through it´s ip?

you should be able to see all the domains on the new server by setting your computer's "DNS Servers" to the new server's IP address. Edit: Of course, the rest of the internet won't work until you delete it (or put back the old DNS Servers). Edit2: you could also go into the server > ip...

    FTP Problem

all ftp traffic should be getting redirected to the same place on the server -- so you could just use the IP address in dreamweaver. so: FTP Host: xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx (don't use "ftp" in front -- just the IP address) host directory: /httpdocs/ (you could leave this blank) login -- is the...

    Serious Aliasing Bug

been that way for me since 7.x (my first soirée into plesk). I'm no expert here, but I believe it's that way so all the POP, SMTP, IMAP, etc, mail traffic gets forwarded to the right place on the server. The same is true of webmail (which you probably wouldn't notice because of the horde...

plesk makes me log in twice?

if I attempt to login to the control panel using the https://www.example.com:8443 it makes me login twice. Once logged in, there is always the sessions warning about someone else being logged into the control panel with the same name... etc. If I instead use the IP address...

    email is forwarding non-existant addresses

-- bump -- better description: www.example.net -- old domain www.example.com -- new domain www.unrelated.com -- site hosted on same server, but otherwise unrelated to the other two. 1. example.net was "deleted" in the domain control panel. Email was configured to reject nonexistent...

    email is forwarding non-existant addresses

email is freaking out I killed an old domain and made it an alias of a new domain. The old domain was told to reject non-existant addresses, as is the new domain. Now all the email from the old domain is being forwarded to the "forward to" address of yet another domain. What to do?

where is vhost.conf file for web_users?

you mean the file that says: I was looking for the method by which one could change the basedir restriction. httpd.conf was it -- I just didn't know the language until I hacked on it for a few days. Thanks anyway!

where is vhost.conf file for web_users?

found something inside vhost.conf file, I can add the following -- which seems to work fine: <Directory /home/httpd/vhosts/example.com/web_users/username> php_admin_flag engine on php_admin_value open_basedir /tmp/:/home/httpd/vhosts/example.com/web_users/username/: </directory>

    mysql truncating fields?

I have a WYSIWYG HTML editor that allows users to edit their little page online. they edit the page and it's happy. it looks good. and it stays for a day or two. but then, without warning, you go to their page one day, and the page's content has been truncated. I have had to pull database...

    IP changes need DNS propagation?

I moved a client's site from one IP address to another. Their ISP doesn't update their DNS but once every three days. Now, when you type in their URL from that ISP, you get my default site instead of theirs. The funny thing is, everything is on the same server. Can I do anything on my end...

client's "outbound" email SSL certificate different?

For the curious, I got the answer on the Plesk 8 forum. http://forum.swsoft.com/showthread.php?threadid=34885&goto=newpost "I copied /usr/share/courier-imap/pop3d.pem to /var/qmail/control/clientcert.pem (backing up the old certificate first, of course) and now all is copasetic."

    changing the outbound email certificate

ah hah! that's it! /var/qmail/control/clientcert.pem boo-yah. I copied /usr/share/courier-imap/pop3d.pem to /var/qmail/control/clientcert.pem (backing up the old certificate first, of course) and now all is copasetic.

    changing the outbound email certificate

you would have to generate new certificates and replace the old ones manually, I imagine. It's too bad there isn't a plesk gui to do mail certificates. Maybe plesk 9?
