  • The BIND DNS server has already been deprecated and removed from Plesk for Windows.
If a Plesk for Windows server is still using BIND, the upgrade to Plesk Obsidian 18.0.70 will be unavailable until the administrator switches the DNS server to Microsoft DNS. We strongly recommend transitioning to Microsoft DNS within the next 6 weeks, before the Plesk 18.0.70 release.
  • The Horde component is removed from Plesk Installer. We recommend switching to another webmail software supported in Plesk.

1and1 Server running 8.6 w/Virtuozzo (upgrade)

I am running a 1and1 VPS server, and want to move my 8.6 server to the 9.x series. With Virtuozzo, this is what I want to do:
1. Do a full backup through Virtuozzo.
2. Upgrade to 9.x
3. If any problems, revert back through Virtuozzo?

Is this possible?

It sounds like a wise plan the way you describe it.
You can always easily revert back to 8.6

I just would skip the upgrade to 9.0.x.
And upgrade to 9.2 right away, because upgrading to 9.0.1 is known problematic.

A good practice is perform full VPS backup (using vzbackup utility on the node) in case of emergency you can restore the whole VPS with Plesk 8.6 in any time (because downgrade is not possible on the Plesk for linux) using vzrestore utility. It is recommended to upgrade Plesk via templates to the latest version (9.2.1)
