• Our team is looking to connect with folks who use email services provided by Plesk, or a premium service. • The BIND DNS server has already been deprecated and removed from Plesk for Windows.
If a Plesk for Windows server is still using BIND, the upgrade to Plesk Obsidian 18.0.70 will be unavailable until the administrator switches the DNS server to Microsoft DNS. We strongly recommend transitioning to Microsoft DNS within the next 6 weeks, before the Plesk 18.0.70 release.
  • The Horde component is removed from Plesk Installer. We recommend switching to another webmail software supported in Plesk.

New Pleskian
Hi all

I'm kind of new in Plesk (2 days experience by now), so please bear with me for these questions. :)

I've had my own linuxbox for years, but finally switched to a solution that's easier to manage for resellers and customers.
In that regard, I've stumbled upon these few questions which I haven't been able to find answers for:

1. Are the webstats folder not protected by a password by default?? (or is it some switch that can be turned on/off)

2. Are there any way to customise the set up of customers (fx when creating domain, create a db and mail account with same pwd at the same time)

3. In regards to #2, I've read about the event manager, but only a little about the api. Are there any ressources for this? (existent scripts/examples/etc)

4. What is the actual difference between a "webspace" and a "subscription!! (this being the most confusing concept ever) ;-)

Any hints, pointers or links very much appreciated!!

Best regards

1) The default setting depends on the setting used in the Subscription. Service Plans -> select a subscription/create a new one -> Hosting Parameters .. look under Web Statistics. There's a tick box to password-protect them by default for all users on that Subscription

2) You'd need to use the API/command line tools and a script

3) There's documentation somewhere. search for "plesk API" or contact your reseller.

4) A Webspace is hosting for a domain belonging to the Plesk admin. It has no set limits. It is basically the same as a domain in a Subscription with everything set to Unlimited and all permission boxes ticked. But there's no Subscription involved, so you don't even need to define one that's Unlimited. Kind of a time-saved for the admin who doesn't want any restrictions on their own sites.

Hello

I guess Im in for a bit of reading then, ey? :)

Password is working and Im staying away from the webspaces to keep things uniform.
