Question apt-get autoremove? (plesk packages)

omexlu

Regular Pleskian
Hi,

After a bigger update i run 'apt-get autoremove' and i get this package to be deleted:
Code:
plesk-py27-pip
plesk-py27-setuptools
plesk-py27-virtualenv
plesk-wheel-cffi
plesk-wheel-cryptography
plesk-wheel-psutil

Are they not needed anymore, can i delete them?

Hi omexlu,

"normally" you are always save to delete packages, which have been installed as additional packages and which currently don't have any other dependencies.
You are always able to check dependencies on Debian/Ubuntu based systems with the command:
Code:
apt-cache depends package-name

Because you don't provide enough informations about your current used operating system, you never will get a decent answer to your unique environment. Pls. check current packages for YOUR Plesk version and for YOUR operating system at "autoinstall.plesk.com" for example. ;)

Hi omexlu,

I recommend to "purge" packages with "aptitude" on Debian/Ubuntu - based systems, if you desire to remove a software from your server. You will notice, that "aptitude" is much more powerfull than "apt-get", offering additional solutions/suggestions, in case that package dependencies might want to remove additional installed packages. Just try it out and learn how to use the 3 available programs "apt-get" , "aptitude" and "dpkg" for your software package management and don't forget, that each operating system offers as well manuals and documentations, where you are able to learn from. ;)

Thank you, i will look at aptitude.

But for now i can uninstall Migration Expansion then i think this 'problem' is gone :) ?
