  • The BIND DNS server has already been deprecated and removed from Plesk for Windows.
If a Plesk for Windows server is still using BIND, the upgrade to Plesk Obsidian 18.0.70 will be unavailable until the administrator switches the DNS server to Microsoft DNS. We strongly recommend transitioning to Microsoft DNS within the next 6 weeks, before the Plesk 18.0.70 release.
  • The Horde component is removed from Plesk Installer. We recommend switching to another webmail software supported in Plesk.

Backup issues (download freezes server)

PlayCayP

Basic Pleskian
Hello together,

I have created a sheduled backup for the Domain configuration and content (all configuration and content), that will be saved within the server repository.

So far that works without any troubles.
But if I try to download that backup via plesk, and enter a backup pasword or not, then it takes ages until the site has been loaded.

Sometimes an error message appear (attachment) and sometimes not. But everytime I start the download the whole server gets stuck. The CPU usage seem to grow up to 100%, all websites turn down with errors and the only way to stop that, is to reboot the server.

I am also receiving errors via mail like:
Server health parameter "Services > Panel CPU usage" changed its status from "green" to "red".
Server health parameter "Disk > Partition "/tmp" utilization" changed its status from "red" to "green".

This issue appears to both backup types, server repository and also with personal ftp repository. But it works if the backup size is pretty low (I think under 1 GB it seems to work with the download).

Besides of that, how can I let it create backups via FTP (within the same server), without that it will create a backup of the backup? Else it grows about the tripple size each day.

Thank you in advance!

I would also like to mention that this error does not just appear to my installation, I have reinstalled Plesk and the whole server (debian 6.0), several times. And it always ends with that error.

I hope someone got an idea how to solve that.

Thanks.

Am I the only one who got that problem?

By the way, I could solve the issue, that the backup is creating a backup of itself.

I have just added another subscription, that I just use to store the backup via ftp.
