  • The BIND DNS server has already been deprecated and removed from Plesk for Windows.
If a Plesk for Windows server is still using BIND, the upgrade to Plesk Obsidian 18.0.70 will be unavailable until the administrator switches the DNS server to Microsoft DNS. We strongly recommend transitioning to Microsoft DNS within the next 6 weeks, before the Plesk 18.0.70 release.
  • The Horde component is removed from Plesk Installer. We recommend switching to another webmail software supported in Plesk.

Backup stopping at 2GB

New Pleskian
Hello,
I am trying to run backups to an off site location, however, I have noticed that even if I try on the server side, it will only backup 2gb, which when I check the backup, the file structure is there, but there arent any files in the backups. I am not sure where to start, any help would be greatly appreciated.

I suggest you try to troubleshoot it with help of Backup logs: /usr/local/psa/PMM/logs/backup-<datetime>

Hello IgorG,
Thankyou for the reply, I checkef there, and nothing stood out to indicate any error. I would be more than happy to show you the log, but I am just not finding anything. Could I pm you this log? Or is it safe to post here?

Thanks,
Jake

It could be that your offsite location may be a 32 bit operating system which won't allow you to generate files larger than 2 GB so have you tried setting the backup split option to 2 GB or less?

Hello there,
Yes I have tried the server and offsite side, both are generating only 2gb files. When I open the backup, only the folder structure is there, nothing inside of the folders.

Have you tried the spit at 1 GB and then tried to run the process manually through the GUI? Does the GUI report the backup as completing?

Yes,
Ok this is weird.....I am currently hosting two different domains on it, I backedup one domain sucessfully at more than 2gb which was at 6gb which had all the files in the folders..., the other one will only backup at 2gb with no files inside the folder.

@ae9803,

If you state

Yes,

than the conclusion must be that nothing is wrong with the backup functionality of Plesk Panel.

The issue with the one specific domain can be the result of various factors, but naming of files and directories is the obvious candidate.

Did you use strange signs in names? Or even very long file or directory names?

Try to run through the directory structure and identify "remarkable" names, replace them and try to run the backup process for (only) the specific domain.

Please post the backup log, if you encounter any problems.

Kind regards.....
