• Our team is looking to connect with folks who use email services provided by Plesk, or a premium service. If you'd like to be part of the discovery process and share your experiences, we invite you to complete this short screening survey. If your responses match the persona we are looking for, you'll receive a link to schedule a call at your convenience. We look forward to hearing from you!
  • The BIND DNS server has already been deprecated and removed from Plesk for Windows.
    If a Plesk for Windows server is still using BIND, the upgrade to Plesk Obsidian 18.0.70 will be unavailable until the administrator switches the DNS server to Microsoft DNS. We strongly recommend transitioning to Microsoft DNS within the next 6 weeks, before the Plesk 18.0.70 release.
  • The Horde component is removed from Plesk Installer. We recommend switching to another webmail software supported in Plesk.

Best way to migrate from 7.5.4 --> 8.1 (FC2 --> RHEL 4)

Basic Pleskian
I've read countless threads with migration problems (MySQL indexes and auto increments being lost, etc) and I'm a bit worried since I will be moving 130 domains in the next two months.

Has anyone actually been able to do this properly? Any other "gotchas" to pay attention to?

Moving details:
Source: Plesk 7.5.4 (Fedora Core 2 @ GoDaddy)
Destination: Plesk 8.1 (Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4 @ Rackspace)

Thanks!

If you can, get a 2nd server and do the migration in parallel. Thats the safest way to do it, and you'll avoid any downtime.

Thanks for the prompt reply.

Yeah, that's exactly how I'm gonna do it. It's just that there are so many things to check that it's overwhelming. That's why I was asking.

Easyist way

We did ths easily by migrating to cPanel. Worked great and they gave us a 'free' support ticket just in case anything popped up - which it didn't. No more Plesk spam or upgrade disasters.
