• Our team is looking to connect with folks who use email services provided by Plesk, or a premium service. If you'd like to be part of the discovery process and share your experiences, we invite you to complete this short screening survey. If your responses match the persona we are looking for, you'll receive a link to schedule a call at your convenience. We look forward to hearing from you!
  • The BIND DNS server has already been deprecated and removed from Plesk for Windows.
If a Plesk for Windows server is still using BIND, the upgrade to Plesk Obsidian 18.0.70 will be unavailable until the administrator switches the DNS server to Microsoft DNS. We strongly recommend transitioning to Microsoft DNS within the next 6 weeks, before the Plesk 18.0.70 release.
  • The Horde component is removed from Plesk Installer. We recommend switching to another webmail software supported in Plesk.

Dear Community,

i have set up a new rootserver using Plesk. My question is: How to handle system upgrades?

Can i install periodically all new system upgrades (which is recommended for server security) with "aptitude upgrade", or is there any risk that plesk won´t really work after this?

How do you deal with system upgrades when running Plesk on you servers?

Thanks,
Marco

Hello,

I did all my system updates regarding the Debian System via apt-get update && apt-get upgrade and encoutered no problems until now :)

If there are critical Updates I would suggest to look if there is a Plesk update available, too (via autoinstaller) so that you can install both updates and the Plesk system is able to work with your newly installed system components.

Be careful.

I'm facing one problem right now because of OS upgrades.

It would be nice to have some sort of upgrade advisor from Swsoft.

Right now we don't know which packages you can and you should upgrade.

If you don't upgrade, you can be exposed, if you do upgrade, you can break Plesk.
