Cannot Install Network Solutions SSL Certificate

Hello,

I'm having a lot of trouble with installing a SSL certificate from Network Solutions.

I had originally generated the CSR through IIS and installed the SSL certificate on the domain there. When I did that, the certificate did install successfully, but when I went to the domain through HTTPS, it kept trying to use the default SSL certificate (the 'Plesk' one).

My next step was to generate a CSR through Plesk and then have Network Solutions reissue the certificate. Now, when I try to upload the SSL certificate and the CA certificate in Plesk, I get an error message which says 'Error: Unable to set the certificate: Incompatible private key/certificate pair.' I'm not sure how to proceed at this point.

Are you installing the certificate to a subdomain or a to domain?

Is this domain in a shared IP? If yes, you need to change it to a exclusive.

One thing you should know... if you are not installing a wildcard certifiate and you are installating the certificate to a domain, then you will need to create your subdomain as a domain alone.

Give me more details if you still have the problem.

The certificates from Network Solutions actually come in a .crt format. I actually found that some URL you linked to this morning, and did convert to a .pem format, but I still received the same error in Plesk.

The domain I'm trying to install it for is actually a subdomain. The 'plesk' default certificate is installed on the main domain (www.domain.com) and I'm trying to install a certificate for the subdomain (blah.domain.com). So you're saying the subdomain needs to be setup on its own IP? Can you only install one certificate per IP in Plesk?

Do you think I might be able to replace the default 'plesk' certificate with a wildcard certificate which would cover both the main domain and the subdomain?

I am curious about this as well!

I have a domain that has an SSL cert, and now the customers wants a subdomain with an ssl cert.

I went and bought one at Godaddy, (I got a normal one, not wildcard) and i installed it, but I cant seem to apply it to the subdomain speciffically. I get the whole..."This cert doesnt match the domain" is there a way to do this and if so how?

i dont want to have to now kill two certs that I paid for and go get another one for $60...

I would strongly recommend against trying to use a Network Solutions SSL cert if you are on Plesk for Windows. I spent hours researching myself and more hours on the phone with their support staff (who sucked, by the way) and at the end of the day, the certificate still would not install. Network Solutions support had no idea what the issue was.

Finally, I just gave up and bought one through GoDaddy, which took me like 20 minutes to install.

Thanks 'phytorian' for mentioning that the subdomain needed to be on its own IP. That was necessary, and I didn't see it mentioned anywhere in the Plesk help files.
